Slightly Overboard and Fed Up.

Ok, so the title has a double meaning. I went overboard eating sweets lately. As it got closer to halloween, my roommates and I began to stockpile candy for trick-or-treaters. Problem is, we ate too much of it, and we only had five families come to the door, so our candy was barely touched by the others. So I had way too much sugar, almost got sick from it, and still didn't give it up. That's my own stupidity. So, tonight, I decided I was going to try on clothes for my performance tomorrow in one of my classes, and I couldn't find anything, even amongst my new clothes, that I really wanted to wear. I just got really fed up with my body. So that's when I went slightly overboard...I did every type of crunch I could think of, which is about eight different kinds, and I did one set of all, and two sets of two of them. In case you're not used to my sets system, that equals 300 crunches of different varieties. So I'm a bit tired now. I'd do weights, but really, it's 1:30, and I was going to get up at 7:45, so if I go to bed now, I'm getting 6 hours in...so there's my update now.

Get all the latest!

Ok, so I haven't been blogging every day. I have, however, been working out almost every day, and have been eating healthy, for the most part. I ran out of most of my candy, which is good, though my roommate gave me more for Halloween, which is bad. :) I got my bike fixed last week, so I've been riding that a lot, and even though my butt gets sore, it's fun. :) I'm going to work out again tonight. As far as eating this weekend goes, I ate mostly bread today, which isn't so good, but I'm going to go to the store tomorrow and get more meat and fruit, so I can eat other stuff. That's all for tonight!

(Late) Evening Update

Ok, sorry I've been MIA for the past few days, life's been crazy. As far as monday went, I ate very healthy, except for dinner, in which I had leftovers, specifically, some cheesy potatoes my roommate made, which weren't very good reheated, and some pizza, which she ordered in substitute of the potatoes, and some rice that I made...really healthy stuff...oh, and I had an orange. I had fruit earlier that day, and I had lots of fruit yesterday too...The killer right now is that one of my roommates brought back brownies and popcorn balls and mystery bars (we think they're either carrot cake or pumpkin....wide range, I know, but they were made to be healthy, and while they taste really good, we still don't know what the main ingredient is!) that her grandma made for us. She heard that we're all on diets, so she substituted wheat flour in for white, and cut down on the sugar and fat, but everything is still incredibly good, and it's very hard to resist. Right now I'm trying to be good and am just drinking tea, which is pretty good. It's one of those new lipton teas...anyway, really good...I'm rambling. :)

Ok, so as far as work out goes, I did work out Monday, and since today is still tuesday to me, I'll be working out once I finish my homework, before I go to bed. I'll do two sets of crunches, and two sets of weights.

Ok, on to homework for the evening. Goodnight!

P.S.
I am slowly but surely losing weight again! Yay!

Morning check in.

This will be kind of short, since I need to get ready for church, and sunday school starts in ten minutes.

I didn't work out yesterday, technically, but I spent a little over seven hours of my day hauling trees, shrubs and vines all over the greenhouse I work at to get them ready for winter. I moved 80% of our inventory, with no help. So I figured that was a pretty good workout in itself, and I left it at that.

As far as eating goes, I had a mini bagel for breakfast, and then soup and a sandwich for lunch. I had half of a large cookie with lunch, and that was my serving of sweets for the day. I had a few slices of pizza for dinner, which I know is terrible for me, and I had strawberries for dessert. I didn't really snack, that I remember, :),

As for today, I promise to avoid the donuts at church, and I will still have the mini bagel for breakfast. I will work out again today, though I don't know if I'm going to count work as my workout, since I still have to move around the rest of the greenhouse and haul 40 lb. bags of mulch to cover everything. Wish me luck.

Evening Check in.

Hopefully these check-ins will be frequent...depends on my schedule...I'm considering doing morning and evening, just to keep closer watch, more accountability, but that depends on how much time I have in the end.

Anyway, tonight I weighed myself, and, well, frankly, I'm not ready to post the number yet. Hopefully it will go down by tomorrow morning...it's not that much more than normal, but still.

I had Taco John's for lunch today. I know, terrible for me...I went because a large part of my choir decided to go out to eat together and that was the place chosen...I don't know that I'll go next time. Anyway, besides that, I had a burger for dinner, and a bagel for breakfast, so I definitely got my bread and meat in. I also had some applesauce, so that counts for a weak serving of fruit. Other than that, I think I drank all water and half a cup of tea today, unsweetened, and I had three servings of sweets...one I blame partly on the taco johns thing, the other two was me just not limiting myself to one. Since I'm going to be working tomorrow, I'll be away from all of that, and I should be able to do just one serving.

As for working out, I did 2 sets (60 total) crunches, 1 regular, 1 reverse, and 2 sets of weights (30 total) 1 shoulders, 1 biceps/triceps.
That's all for tonight. I'm tired...time for bed.
Apple time....have to stay up to do my paper for class, and so need the healthy energy...

New overhaul for the blog, and for me.

Well, as you can see, this is my new updated layout. I got tired of the old one...never really liked it, and I like this one better...this wasn't my first choice, but my first choice didn't format well. So here's my second-ish choice. Anyway...

I've fallen behind on my diet. And my exercise. I've gained back my weight, unfortunately, and I'm running short on time before the wedding...it's 226 days away, to be exact. (I have a countdown widget.) So I've decided to get a fresh start. I need to throw out all my candy, but I"m not so good at going cold turkey, so I've limited myself to one packet/serving a day. Besides that, I'm going to do at least one set of crunches per day (One set for me is 30 crunches in a row,) and the goal of more than three per day. Besides that, I'm going to lift weights each day. I have a set of five pounders in my room. I haven't been eating as much fruit as I normally do, and I intend to change that. I'm headed to Jones tomorrow to get some of their delicious oranges and hopefully some grapes as well...I already have two apples, and if I get more hungry tonight I'll have one, but I shouldn't, since I've already eaten too much tonight. :) Anyway, I know I've done this kind of overhaul before, but I need to stick to this one, so I'm hoping that more frequent blogging on my newly updated blog will help. Let me know what you think.

Healthy Dinner

Ok, tonight, Chris and I had a very healthy dinner of cracked black pepper pasta with tomato sauce. I had a pretty healthy sandwich for lunch too...now I just need to get my fruit intake for the day, and I should be good for today. I had a few cookies that my roommates grandma made, but that was my only bad-for-me food today. My portions were even good! Oh, and I had a jicama before dinner....part of one anyway. So that's part of my vegetable count for the day. Now I just have to work out today...I'm going to do that while studying I think. I have a lot of reading to do, and I can do crunches while doing that.

Avoidance is Key...

to backsliding. If you avoid what you're trying to achieve, naturally, you'll back track. Such has happened with me. I don't know why I was surprised when I stepped on the scale today. I haven't been working out as I should, and I haven't been eating healthy. I guess I was just surprised at the number. I definitly took two steps back for my one forward.
Here's the good thing though. I now am more motivated (again) to work out more and to eat healthy. I actually have groceries, so I can make some pretty healthy food, as long as I don't wimp out about it and order something.

My goal this week is: To work out every day, whether it be at the gym or in my room with my big ball and weights. To eat healthy for every meal, whether or not I am eating out.

Steep goals, given my track record, but I will weigh myself at the end of the week and see if I have made progress. Wish me luck!

Delays

Ok, so here I am... Where? In Seattle, actually. So anyway, here I am, having eaten one full meal today, with random snacks and a cup of wonderful latte for dinner. My point being, I am on vacation and have not been eating the most healthily (?). I have, however, been excercising like crazy. Seattle is a walking city, in which you spend the majority of your day travelling from one location to another, usually on foot. The destinations we have chosen happen to keep you on your feet as well, so really, we've walked all day...so that's my update...hopefully the exercise is outweighing the eating...

Progress!!!

Hi all!
Just thought I'd give you an update...sorry about the inconsistency...I didn't really want to blog here till I had something good to say. I know that's not the point of this blog, but point being, I've got something good to report now!

Ok so I've actually been making progress, simply due to an easy shift in my diet. Whenever I get a craving for sweets, sugar, etc., I eat fruit. You know, healthy sugar. See, other than my sweet tooth, I eat healthy for the most part. Since I actually do like fruit a lot, I just bought a bunch of it, a lot of variety too, and I've been snacking on that. I've had an apple with most meals as well, (or sometimes an orange). I feel great, and I've been dropping pounds. I only started doing this Saturday, and I'm seeing progress already. I'll let you know my weigh-in when I break my usual plateau, hopefully by the end of the week! Yay!

Monday, July 10, 2006

Hi all! Sorry, it's been awhile since I have updated you all. Well, I've joined a yoga class that meets three times a week. The class is free through the gym that I'm a member of. It's at 6 am, which is usually not a time I'd consider prime for working out, but I went on Friday, and I enjoyed it. I couldn't make it this morning unfortunately, because I was up until about 2:30 making stew. Sounds crazy, I know, but once you start with that recipe you can't really stop, and I had to run to the store in the middle of it because it turns out my roommate used up some of my ingredients, so it took longer to make than expected. (I should have been done by midnight.) Thankfully, there is a class this evening at 7:45, and I'm going to go tonight. As far as weight loss, I've not lost any according to the scale, but I have had people tell me I look thinner, and I feel better. So that's about it for now. :)

My Daily Workout

As promised, I'm linking my daily ab workout guide...just click on the title of this post. Starting this week, actually starting immediately in the morning tomorrow, I'm stepping up my workout. I've got a dress shopping expedition on Friday the 7th, and want to do as much slim down as I can in that little of time...don't worry though...I won't do anything stupid or unhealthy. I at least have done my fair share of research on dieting, even if I don't always follow that research. :) I'll do my best to be good from now on. :)

Walking....

Ok, thought I'd give you all a heads up on this. Chris and I walked a good 2 to 3 miles at least tonight, and I"m going to let that count as my workout for the day. I'm tired, and my abs are sore...I'll do a little bit more tomorrow for working out to make up...probably a bike ride, since I have a bike now...yay! Ok, that's all for tonight...bed is calling me... :)

Working out....

Ok, y'all should be proud of me. Not only have I been keeping up with my night workouts, but today, I started working out in the building's workout room. Granted, I was only on the bike for about 15 minutes, but I rode two miles. Sad to say my endurance for that is down...usually I ride for between a half hour and 45 minutes and ride around 8 miles. But, this just serves as a challenge to get back up there. I'm going to try to make it a regular thing to get over there and bike...or, here's an idea. :) Head down to the gym where I have a membership, where they have the really nice bikes and gym equipment. This was a good start though.

My diet's been ok too...still need to work on the snacking. I'm off to make lunch now...either a salad or a sandwich...haven't decided which yet...or hey! I have some stew I made thawing in the fridge....naw, that'll be for dinner.

Slow and Steady

Well, I think I'm finally starting to really lose weight. I feel like I've lost more than the scale shows, but no matter. I'm at 192.5, which isn't a huge change, but I think my stomach's gotten slightly smaller...my jeans fit better anyway.

My guess is that since I'm not eating meals at work every day anymore (I was working full time, with no time to run home or go out and get something, so I had to eat at the store's deli...which is good, but probably way more calories than I needed...ever...) I'm probably doing better with my own groceries. I've been having sandwiches for the past few meals...sandwiches with watermelon or jicama on the side, and I guess I had a yogurt too...

So anyway I hope this is a positive update....oh, I've been keeping up with exercise too! :)

Confessions.

Ok, so working out isn't bad at all...what I"m having trouble with is eating. As I said, I eat fairly healthy meals, but I snack, especially in the evenings while I'm doing other things. I need to go to the store and get groceries...I think...
See, I have a lot of food in my fridge...mostly to make salads. And while I enjoy salads, I can only take so many of them. So food sits unused while I am tempted by the sweets my roommates love to buy and bake...not that it's their fault...they're not on a diet, and they're not forcing me to eat it. I just need to be a bit more disciplined. Ok, so there's my confession.

P.S.
You all are welcome to comment on the blog...it helps for me to see that someone is in fact keeping track of this...
You don't have to, but it'd be nice. :)

Quick updates.

Weigh-in this morning:193.5

Quick details...
Ok, so I've been really good about working out consistently, except last night, which had special circumstances regarding my roomies...so anyway, I'm going to continue with the plan of working out every night, and see if I can't work in some workouts during the day...no guarentees on that yet...I am still spending most days in the computer lab trying to finish my work for a class...but that class ends a week from today, so I should be able to after that....hopefully.

As far as eating...I've been really good with meals...it's snacking that's been the problem this week, which is actually usually my problem anyway...so I'm going to attempt to find healthy snacks amongst all my groceries, and if not I'll go and stock up on some....and I"ll also plain cut down on amount.

That's it for now, I've got to go do laundry. :)

Excuses, excuses, excuses.

Ok, so here's the reason for the big delay. I was out of town Friday, the internet was down pretty much all of Saturday, I was in the computer lab most of Sunday doing homework, some of monday too, and there's where I run out of excuses. See I could have blogged monday or today, but this is the first I've gotten to it...Sorry, I'll try to be more regular with this.

Ok, so here's the rundown.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I only ate two meals a day, which I know is terrible, and on each day, one was healthy, and one wasn't. Yesterday and today I"ve tried to eat better, since I'm back to actually eating at home, food that I actually prepare. Tonight was especially good...I had a Tilapia filet....mmm....but the downside was that I baked a birthday cake tonight and enjoyed some of the batter and frosting....yeah, so that wasn't so great.

Plans for tomorrow....Salads....gotta use up lots of my greens! I just bought some radishes to have on salads too, which I need to eat before my roommates give me grief.

Last weigh-in (this morning): 194

Commitment: WIll workout tonight before bed, as well as the following nights for the rest of the week. I'll update on my progress. (Workout before bed usually entails a good ab workout...everything else must be scheduled extra during the day.)

First Morning (Ok, Afternoon.)

So I've actually been up for a few hours, but I've just now gotten around to blogging. Morning Weight was 192. I did work out last night before making this blog, and I intend to again today. I'll eventually get around to posting my workout...I got it off theknot.com. Not this post though. I think I"m going to make a very basic sandwich for lunch...you know, use up the groceries we've got till we absolutely have to get more. :)

Fresh Start.

So. Here's my new blog, my weight loss journal. I figure I've been slightly erratic in disciplining myself for weight loss, and I don't have very much time before I need to get a wedding dress. :) So.

Here are my goals.

Either...
Weight: 148
or...
Dress Size:12 ( I don't think I can fit into anything smaller with my shoulders being as they are. :) Which is ok. I'd be happy at 12.)

As I am now:

Weight: 196
Dress Size: 14/16 (usually 16, but depends on brand.)

I have about two, maybe three, four months at the absolute limit, to kick it into gear. Not a whole lot of time. I would be happy making part of the way there and finishing by my wedding, but I need to have a dress picked out by the absolute limit of four months.

Just so you know...
I am hoping you all can keep me accountable. Michelle, I did use the food journal, I promise, but I got off and got guilty, and since I didn't have you check regularly, I stopped. This is my new way of having everyone check frequently. When I know I have to post on here, especially if I mess up, (no worries, I'm good at being honest with that, at least) it can be a very good deterrent.

Also...
Please, if you do want to check up on me, I'm fine with that...that's great....no lectures please, though. I guarentee I beat up on myself over this ten times more than you know.

Ok. So very long post to say that I'm going to work hard at getting in shape for my wedding on May 26, 2007!
