Hi all,

So I figure I've lost around thirty pounds now, since becoming pregnant. I'm sort of starting to show, which means I look like I've not lost any weight and my waist is thicker. Therefore no one can tell that I'm showing except Chris and myself, who got to watch my body shrink over break and grow back (not so dramatically, of course). I can feel the baby kicking now, which is a bit odd, really, both in that it's a couple weeks before I'm really supposed to, even for wide-range estimates, and because I can now feel that there is a person inside me whose movements I am not controlling. I can't feel it all the time, and only faintly, but still.
I've not entirely got my appetite back, but I don't have to force myself to eat anymore. No food cravings yet, that I've noticed, so there is that. Alright, that's all for now.

Exciting News.

Well for any of you that read this blog and somehow don't know, I'm pregnant. I'm about 2 1/2 months along, and finally getting over most of the early pregnancy stuff, like nausea and fatigue.
But wait. I have more interesting news. Since finding out I was pregnant, I have been watching what I eat, but I haven't been dieting. I also have been somewhat terrible about working out, though I tend to go in spurts. (This past week and this next are finals for me, so I've been swamped.) I am going to work out today though. Anyway, the interesting news is that despite being as far along as I am, I have gained no weight whatsoever. I've actually lost 15 pounds. Like I said, not dieting, just trying to eat balanced for the baby...but it's working... I can tell my waist is actually starting to thicken a bit, but that's normal right now for the pregnancy, but somehow even though to me it looks like I'm getting bigger, 15 pounds left at some point. So, yay! Less I have to lose after the baby's born. :) (Baby is due July 17th.)

Bagels.

So, I've been saying for at least six months that I was going to try out a bagel recipe I had, and tonight I have. The bagels are currently cooking in the oven, after being shaped, broiled and boiled first. Quite an intensive recipe, though it is much healthier than any bagels I could buy, especially since I made them smaller than was actually called for. They're no-fat too, since basically all they are is a little bit of sugar (3 T) and a lot of flour and water and a bit of yeast. Pretty simple mix, really. I'm looking forward to seeing how they taste.

I did in fact do my yoga the other day, as I said I planned to in my last post, two days ago. I should do it tonight as well, but I'm going to try to go to bed early instead, and do it in the morning. I always feel better that way, and I don't think an 11 hour delay will make too much of a difference. I've stepped up the intensity as well, and it takes a bit longer, so I"m going to need to get up a bit earlier, so, again, sleep is good.

That's all for now!

Today...

I'm blogging now to say that though I was running a bit late this morning, due to unforseen circumstances, I will do my yoga tonight. As it is, I have to meet my accompanist at school in twenty minutes, and I've not done my hair or eaten breakfast yet. Gotta go!

Yoga for beginners (again).

Alright, well I've been enjoying my return to yoga, except that this week I haven't been as consistent. I'm really looking forward to going back to it though, and will begin again tomorrow morning. I've been doing yoga every other morning since I started, and the days that I do it, I feel like I'm lighter, and I"ve got better posture, which is another thing I'm trying to work on. The problem this week has been that I've had an event every evening, and so I've been up later doing homework after said events, and so I've been sleeping in in lieu of doing yoga. However. I feel like I have more energy on the days that I do yoga vs. the days that I sleep in a little bit, so I think I've learned my lesson and I'll continue practicing. I'm going to try to work up to doing it every day, but when I started I did three days in a row and wow was I sore!
Well, as you can tell it's very late, and if I'm going to make time for yoga in the morning before church I'd better get some rest. Let me know if you all have any suggestions for light meals with few ingredients...I"m going to work out my shopping list for the coming week soon.

So, I know it's been forever, again, but I've decided to update you all on the gym/home workout situation. Since my gym membership ran out at Heart & Soul, and the students are back in town, so it's near impossible to work out at the Dome at a reasonable time, I've taken to working out at home. Unfortunately, since I'm not too fond of working out to videos, or in the living room in general, (it's our smallest room! well, except for the bathroom...) I haven't been very good about working out in the apartment.

Tonight, on the way home from Pierre, Chris and I stopped in Sioux Falls to do some shopping, and picked up a yoga mat and book for me. I can't recall if I mentioned going to yoga classes last summer, but I did, and I loved it. Now, I can do yoga at home! I already worked out tonight, and really enjoyed it. It'll take a bit to get used to the moves again, and to get used to referring to a book instead of listening to someone talk, but I really do enjoy it. Eventually, I want to get to the point where I can listen to my opera music, or even a book on tape, but right now it's taking too much concentration for that. Either way though, it's a good workout while still being pretty relaxing, so it's a win-win.

P.S.
I've had to arrange shopping lists for each week, and consequently have been either packing lunches or eating at home, and planning dinners for every night, so we've not eaten fast food hardly at all. (Except when travelling...it can't be helped on a time crunch...) I've also incorporated more veggies and fruits into the diet, so that's helped a bit as well. I'm still plateaued, but I"m hoping the yoga will help kick me past that.

22 Posts!

Well, today is the day that I post one post over how many I posted last year. I know, exciting. I bet you just got chills.

Well, Chris and I have been married for about a month and a half now, and life is a whole lot easier. In the weight loss realm, we've been cooking even more regularly, cutting our eating out down to once a week at most. I'm actually sick of fast food/eating out from this week, since we had a couple of church events that I'd forgotten about, so we didn't eat at home for two nights. I also didn't judge groceries as well this week, so we ran out today and we ordered a pizza for dinner. So I am thouroughly sick of non-home-cooked meals. I know, I'm a very poor tribute to the average college student, but I'm ok with that now. Anyway, Chris and I did go to the store yesterday with the express purpose of buying fruit, because we ran out of that as well, and so I have been snacking on that ever since.

Ok, as far as working out goes, I had gotten really good about working out again, doing weight training in our apartment, until I hurt my legs by overworking them, to the point where I had trouble walking around for about three days. I'm better now, but I unfortunately broke the habit and haven't really worked out since. Well, I did once, but that was a week ago, so it doesn't really count. I officially am beginning my workout routine again tomorrow morning (Saturday) and will do my best not to make the same mistakes and kill my thighs again!

So.....this hasn't really been my most exciting post, but I'll let you know if stuff changes...more to come soon.
